A touch of originality with the animal pattern fire extinguisher

Every house should be equipped with a fire extinguisher. This would reduce the risk of fire spreading to all rooms. Statistics show that in France about 250,000 cases are reported to the insurance companies every year. Even if owning one at home is not mandatory, it is strongly recommended, to prepare for the worst case scenario.

An essential device for more security

In a house, fire can come from many places. First, there are electrical sources. In the event of a short circuit or malfunction in a home's electrical system, the wires can ignite. As conductors, they will quickly spread the flames through the various wiring. Then there is gas and heat in the kitchen. These last two are the main causes of domestic fires. An improperly maintained or misused space heater can cause serious damage. So can a chimney flue that is clogged or poorly extinguished.

Unlike a smoke detector, which is mandatory in all homes, a fire extinguisher is not. However, it would reduce fires and the spread of fire resulting in multiple victims.

The different types of existing fire extinguishers

Three types are on the market today.

  • Class A fire extinguishers suitable for this class of fire from ordinary fuel (fabric, paper and wood)
  • Class B fire extinguishers, for fires caused by grease, oil or gasoline.
  • Class C fire extinguishers, for fires originating from electric current.

There is a multi-purpose powder extinguisher type ABC that extinguishes all three classes of fire at the same time. It is perfect for a house, garage or workshop. It is still very aggressive, because the powder will corrode everything it touches.

Design consideration when purchasing

Normally, every building should have a fire extinguisher. It is common to see the eternal black and red devices. But for more aesthetics, especially if it is your home, why not opt for other more original designs or coloured extinguishers? For animal lovers, they are currently in the spotlight on fire extinguisher patterns. Dog, fawn, elephant, the SAFE-T models are not lacking originality. There are even those covered with synthetic fabric in fawn colour.

For example, if you decide to put yours in the living room, the fish pattern would look great. You could place it on the wall next to a dresser so that at a quick glance you would think it was real.

Combine visual pleasure and practicality

The letters preceded by a number, better known as "typical fireplaces" on the registration label determine the effectiveness of the fire extinguisher. On one side, the letters correspond to the classes of fire covered. On the other hand, the numbers indicate the volume of fire to be fought. For example, if you see 45 A, 253B, C on the latter, the explanation is as follows :

  • The 45A indicates that it can reach a maximum volume of 45 kilograms of solid matter (Class A).
  • The 253B means 253 litres of Class B fire.
  • The C says it can be used on class C fires.

Several models in different designs are at your disposal. Choose one that you like, taking this useful factor into account.
