Some precautions to prevent fires

A few simple precautions are often enough to prevent the majority of fires:

Never smoke in bed
Never throw a lit cigarette in the garbage can, in a vent or in a manhole
opening Never use methylated spirits or alcohol to light or rekindle a barbecue
Keep lighters, matches and pyrotechnic devices out of reach of children
Handling flammable liquids (ether, white alcohols, stain removers, etc.)) with care and in a well-ventilated
area Do not use candles or other decorative objects with an open flame near flammable
materials Ventilate spaces containing gas
appliances properly Have the chimney cleaned at least once a year

Also remember to have your electrical installations checked. Poor installations are a source of risk that can lead to electrocution and fire. In fact, one in three fires is caused by an electrical failure. The main causes of this type of fire are overload of electrical cables, short circuit due to poor cable insulation or poor connection resulting in abnormal resistance and overheating.
