The SAFE-T can be used on all types of fire in the initial stages:

Don’t forget to regularly check the validity date of your SAFE-T. The SAFE-T can be refilled. For maintenance or refilling, only compliant products and spare parts are recommended.

A few precautions to prevent fires

A few often simple precautions are sufficient to prevent the majority of fires:

  • Never smoke in bed
  • Never throw a lighted cigarette in the bin, in a basement air vent or in a manhole opening
  • Never use methylated spirits or any alcohol to light or rekindle a barbecue
  • Keep cigarette lighters, matches and pyrotechnic devices out of reach of children
  • Handle inflammable liquids (ether, white spirits, stain removers, etc.) with care and in a well-ventilated space
  • Don’t use candles or other decorative items with a naked flame close to inflammable materials
  • Properly ventilate spaces containing gas-powered appliances
  • Have the chimney swept at least once a year

Also think about having your electrical installations checked. Installations in poor condition are a source of risk that can lead to electrocution and fire. In fact, one in three fires is caused by an electrical fault. The main causes of this type of fire are electric cable overload, a short circuit due to poorly insulated wires or a bad connection causing abnormal resistance and overheating.
